Billy Merritt has been a Performer, Teacher, and Director with the UCB Theatre since it first opened in New York.
He was a founding member of improv groups The Swarm and The Stepfathers in New York, and The Smokes in Los Angeles. He has developed and performed in numerous hit shows throughout his tenure at the UCB such as The Sunshine Gang, Piledriver, My Dinner with Billy, and Brain town to name a few.
As a teacher Billy has developed many improvised long forms with his students in advanced classes. Such as, The Documentary, Improvised One Acts, The Ninja, and Holiday Spectacular.
His TV credits include a three year run on MTV's Boiling Points, Best Week Ever, Straight Plan for the Gay Man, Reno 911, Law and Order, Workaholics and Happy Endings. He was the host of "Uncorked" with Billy Merritt. A food, wine and travel show that can still be seen on Hulu. His voice can be heard on radio and TV as the spokesman for IHOP, Jameson Irish Whiskey, Polaris and many more.
Billy would like to thank the UCB for creating such a positive environment for learning and teaching, it is truly one of the great institutions of Modern Comedy.
