The "Human Giant" co-creators reunite to lead the 17th annual awards ceremony.

Rob Huebel and Paul Scheer have been tapped to host the 17th annual Critics' Choice Movie Awards, the Broadcast Film Critics Association announced.

The awards ceremony will air live on VH1 from the  Hollywood Palladium on Thursday, Jan. 12 at 8 p.m. ET/PT. Fitz and the Tantrums will serve as the house band, performing in between awards and during commercial breaks.

Huebel and Scheer co-created, along with Aziz Ansari, MTV's sketch comedy series Human Giant.

Huebel currently stars in Alexander Payne's The Descendants and Adult Swim's Childrens Hospital, which will return for its fourth season. He previously appeared in I Love You, Man and The Other Guys. He was nominated for an Emmy as a producer on The Awful Truth, Michael Moore's Bravo TV series, and has served as a producer on The Daily Show With Jon Stewart.

Scheer can be seen in FX's The League, in its third season. He created and stars in Adult Swim's NTSF:SD:SUV, currently in production on its second season. The comedian has also appeared on 30 Rock, Parks and Recreation, Party Down, Happy Endings and Yo Gabba Gabba. On the big screen, Scheer had roles in Piranha 3D, Year One and Bride Wars. His podcast, How Did This Get Made? was selected iTunes best new comedy podcast of 2011. Scheer's first comic book Aliens vs. Parker will be released this winter.

The Critics Choice Movie Awards is executive produced by Jesse Ignjatovic for Den of Thieves, Joey Berlin for Berlin Entertainment and Lee Rolontz for VH1.

Nominees were announced early Tuesday morning. The Artist and Hugo lead the field with 11 nominations each, while Drive and The Help followed with eight. The Descendants and War Horse both collected seven noms.
